I came to Liquid Motion Academy with very limited knowledge. I had no idea how to operate a rig, housing, lighting, or an external monitor. I knew that I’d always wanted to capture the beauty of our oceans but I resigned myself to the fact that that sort of thing was for other people, not me. My first point of contact was with Anita and I have to be honest— if it was not for her stellar customer service I would have never taken the next step which was signing up for a private five day course with Guy. Anita was an absolute joy to work with. She always went above and beyond to answer all my questions and was willing to do whatever it took to make sure I was 100% comfortable before and during my stay in Mexico. (As an aside, Cozumel is very safe. I am a woman and have traveled there alone many times and not once have I ever felt threatened in any way.)

When I arrived in Mexico my instructor Guy met me at the airport and drove me to my hotel. He showed me how to assemble my rig and we met the next 5 mornings to capture footage. The afternoons were reserved for reviewing and critiquing that day’s films. To say that Guy is knowledgeable is an understatement. In an era where we don’t know who or what to believe anymore (it seems everyone these days is a so-called expert) it was very refreshing to be in the presence of someone so highly intelligent and confident in their abilities. The knowledge I attained in those five short days was worth every single penny I spent and then some.
